Eagle Vision II

Eagle Vision II is a self-contained imagery downlink and processing station that will provide military commanders direct access to multiple commercial imaging satellites. It introduces new capabilities in data timeliness, availability and accuracy.

Eagle Vision II receives imagery directly from the French Systeme Pour l'Observation de la Terre (SPOT) satellites and Canadian RADARSAT-1 Synthetic Aperature Radar satellite. The system is designed to support the new U.S. high resolution remote sensing satellites that will be launched over the next several years (such as Iknonos, QuickBird and OrbView).

The system can be loaded onto C-130H or C-141 aircraft without needing any special equipment (roll-on and roll-off). Eagle Vision II can be set up for operation by four operators in less than four hours.

Eagle Vision II produces orthorectified and mosaicked imagery and digital elevation models in NIMA and standard commercial forms (ADRI, NITF, CIB, DTED, ERDAS). Imagery can be distributed on 8 mm tape, 4 mm tape, CD-ROM or electronically via the Internet and SIPRNET. These products support aircraft mission planning, mission and target area visualization, intelligence assessment, map preparation and other topographic applications.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems delivered Eagle Vision II to its garrison location at USATEC in July 1999. We provide on-going operations and management support, including staffing with an in-field service representative, operator training and system upgrade.
