General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is committed to the communities in which we live and work. General Dynamics employees are united in the desire to improve their communities whether it be building homes for their neighbors, assisting local competitions between high school engineering students or sponsoring cultural events.
Committment to the community extends beyond volunteer efforts and community involvement. Our diversity, education, and environmental, health and safety efforts are an integral part of our mission to provide superior transformational systems and services for customers now and in the future.
GDAIS employees help rebuild community
Employees and family members in the Fairfax, Va. office participate in "National Rebuilding Day", an annual event supported by Rebuilding Together, the nation's largest volunteer organization preserving and revitalizing low-income homes and communities. General Dynamics volunteers are provided with a neighbor in need and then spend the day painting the home's interior. Volunteers expanded the project beyond its scope by painting the outside fence, washing the exterior of the house and planting annuals and perennials as well.

Keeping ahead of the pack beyond the office
For many General Dynamics employees the arrival of spring means picking up their pace and distance in preparation for a summer's worth of good running. The definitive event at GDAIS is the running of the "Army 10 Miler" in Washington, D.C.
Other run / walk events participated in around the country included: American Heart Walk (Buffalo, NY); Race for the Cure (San Antonio, Texas; Greensboro, N.C.); American Heart and Stroke Walk (Greensboro, N.C.); and Walk for Diabetes (Pittsfield, Mass.).
"Art on Wheels" benefits local art center
General Dynamics in Buffalo, N.Y. sponsored one of the 64 vehicles for "Art on Wheels", a community fundraiser benefiting the Burchfield-Penney Art Center, a museum dedicated to artists of Buffalo, Niagara and Western New York State. Art on Wheels was a major public art exhibit that brought artistically transformed automobiles and other works of art to dozens of cultural, heritage and historical sites throughout Buffalo and Niagara. As an artwork sponsor, General Dynamics donated a recycled vehicle and sponsored an artist to transform the vehicle into artwork, reflecting the history of transportation at the location. The car was on display at the Buffalo Museum of Science Nature Preserve in downtown Buffalo. The auction of 45 vehicles ultimately raised $65,000 for the organizers.
