General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is restoring tactical usefulness to legacy electronic warfare systems. Effective platform defense depends heavily on shipboard electronic warfare (EW) for early detection, location and classification of electronic emitters—especially in the littorals. Through the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP), General Dynamics is updating the legacy systems, which were initially installed in the fleet during the late 1970s, based on late 1960s technology.
Through the SEWIP program, we are:
- Incrementally replacing legacy electronic warfare systems
- Adding new EW sensors and network connectivity
- Creating new capabilities for track correlation and sensor fusion
- Maximizing open system architectural solutions
- Replacing obsolescent components with modern COTS technology
